1. What inspired you to start your fitness journey, and how did you get into CrossFit?

In 2009 I wanted to try CrossFit but never followed through. However, I stayed in decent shape over the years. In 2016, sobriety became the most important thing in my life and I started doing things that were uncomfortable. Walking into a CrossFit box was one of those things.

2. What’s your favorite CrossFit workout or movement, and why?

My favorite CrossFit workout is Grace. It’s a WOD that I actually have a good score/time. Also, power cleans and push jerks are two of my favorite movements.

3. How do you use your fitness outside the gym in everyday life or for fun activities?

My fitness makes the physical part of everyday life so much easier. I’m able to do anything I want to do. I can walk, run and hike with ease. I can help others with their projects, I don’t fatigue and I have the confidence to take care of my family. I’m able to do anything my kids want to do and easily keep up with them. Without any training other than CrossFit, I’ve been able to run a half marathon and compete in other fitness competitions.

4. What do you enjoy most about coaching, and how do you help members reach their goals?

I love and enjoy being of service to others in CrossFit and everyday life. It is amazing to see a person come into the gym and they haven’t run in twenty years and done very little physical activity. Within months you are watching them run 400 meters in a workout and they are smiling. I do my best to talk with members to find out what areas they are struggling with or want to improve. I’m then willing to provide the coaching and instruction to help them improve in those areas.

5. What hobbies or activities do you enjoy when you’re not at the gym?

Spending time with family, watching sports, hunting, reading and spending time focusing on sobriety and helping others with sobriety and active recovery.
